Madrid–Galicia high-speed train suspended due to wildfires

MADRID 19 Aug. 2025 – Renfe’s high-speed Madrid–Galicia service remains suspended for the sixth consecutive day due to wildfires in Ourense. Adif confirmed services cannot resume on 19 August. Renfe has arranged replacement trains between Madrid and Zamora, while Transport Minister Óscar Puente warned the line is unlikely to reopen soon. The closures highlight the continuing disruption from Spain’s wildfires, which have affected major transport links. Road access is gradually improving, with the DGT reopening sections of the A-52 motorway near O Cañizo and Padornelo. Authorities remain on high alert as fires continue to threaten the region.
