Spain Declares Pre-Emergency as Wildfires Kill One and Force Thousands to Evacuate

MADRID – Spain’s Interior Ministry has declared the pre-emergency phase of its national emergency plan as wildfires sweep León, Madrid, and Cádiz, burning thousands of hectares. Over 5,800 people have been evacuated, and one man has died in Madrid from severe burns. Firefighting teams, supported by aircraft, are battling the blazes amid a prolonged heatwave and strong winds.
