Spain’s Heatwave Expected to Ease Tuesday, But Could Return Thursday
MADRID. 11 August 2025 – Spain’s nine-day heatwave is expected to end on Tuesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). However, the agency has not ruled out another heatwave starting as early as Thursday, citing forecast uncertainty. Aemet defines a heatwave as three consecutive days in which at least 10% of reference weather stations record maximums above the 95th percentile of historic highs for July and August between 1971 and 2000. Temperatures are forecast to drop on Wednesday — notably in the north and slightly in the south — but will remain high nationwide.
